Join us for the launch of the FIA paper "The Future of Proteins in Asia" and discover the trends in consumption patterns of proteins and potential scenarios in the next decade. Our panel discussion, which will bring speakers from Fonterra, DSM and Cargill together, will be around consumption and production of traditional and alternative proteins, nutritional and sustainability aspects of the future of proteins, and the multi-stakeholder actions that can be taken as the protein sector progresses.

Shivin_circle Shivin Kohli
Associate, AlphaBeta Singapore

Shivin is an Associate in AlphaBeta’s Singapore office. Shivin is passionate about accelerating the global transition in food and agriculture towards climate- and nature-positive sustainable development. He co-leads AlphaBeta’s research on the future of agribusiness and biodiversity, sustainable food and agribusiness supply chains, and alternative proteins, among other areas. He has also been involved in a range of projects on economic development, the digital economy, and the future of jobs and skills in Southeast Asia, South Asia, LATAM, and Africa.

Royal DSM

Justin Wang assumed the position of Regional Vice President of Animal Nutrition & Health for Greater APAC (Greater China & APAC) with effect from 1st July 2021. He joined DSM in 2015 with the acquisition of Jiangshan Pharmaceutical Group, where he was a General Manager/Board Member. In his current role, Justin will lead the strategic growth of DSM’s animal husbandry business across ASEAN, India, Japan, Oceania, South Korea and Greater China. Justin will focus on setting and executing DSM’s growth strategy for the animal health nutrition business. In addition, he will also drive our science behind innovation introductions for four core business lines: Essential Products, Performance Solutions, Precision Services, B2F Farm Premixes within the Animal Health Nutrition business in Greater China and APAC.

From 2016 to 2019, Justin was the Vice President for ANH China and the Regional Vice President for ANH Greater China. In this role, he rapidly integrated the ANH China business, delivering superior business results, implementing the B2F Chuke strategy which is a novel business model of farm premix, strengthening the China team and serving as a member of the global ANH leadership team.

Justin worked at DSM Jiangshan Pharmaceutical (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd for 20 years, and held different management and operations roles throughout his tenure, including leadership responsibility for commercial, operations, strategy and integrated management. Justin’s strategic thinking and insight to the animal health & nutrition industry has contributed to the continuous growth of the business.

Justin said, “Guided by our DSM culture compass and our vision, I am compelled to help shape corporate leadership in societal purpose and address this need through our products and solutions across the region. In addition, I look forward to setting up and working closely with teams and individuals internally to deliver on this aspiration while also developing their talents and supporting their career growth with DSM.”

Justin holds an MBA from China Europe International Business School. He is married and blessed with a son. Justin enjoys running and reading in his spare time.


Jeremy_circleJeremy Hill
Chief Science & Technology Officer, Fonterra Cooperative Group
& Professor, Sustainable Nutrition, Riddet Institute, Massey University

Professor Hill has worked for Fonterra and its predecessor companies for over 30 years, the last 14 as Fonterra’s Chief Science & Technology Officer. He is an inventor on numerous patents covering different aspects of dairy science, technology, health and nutrition and has published over 100 scientific papers. Between 2012-2016 he served as President and Chairman of the Board of the International Dairy Federation (IDF).

Professor Hill has extensive experience in sustainability of the dairy chain and related science and technology. He helped establish and then govern the global Dairy Sustainability Framework, lead the development of the Dairy Declaration of Rotterdam between the IDF and UN FAO on the sustainability of global milk production, established the Sustainable Nutrition Initiative led by the Riddet Institute, sits on the IDF Standing Committee Environment, is Chairman of the Pastoral Greenhouse Gas Research Consortium and sits on the Board of the NZ Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre.

Professor Hill is responsible for Fonterra’s Complementary Nutrition Programme. The focus of the programme includes technologies to produce new or improved food ingredients that have the potential to complement Fonterra’s dairy business.

Professor Hill was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to science and the dairy industry in the 2020 Queens Birthday Honours.

Business Manager, Alternative Proteins, Cargill 

Paris Wang has been working in the protein business for more than 10 years, currently holding the position as Business Manager for APAC for Cargill Alternative Protein Business.

The Alternative Protein BU was established in 2019 with the aim to consolidate Cargill’s well established protein capacity and expertise to capture the fast growing opportunities in the new food category.

In his role, Paris is responsible to establish commercial presence in APAC utilizing Cargill’s wide footprint in the region. Exploring growth opportunities and build internal/external capability to support the business strategy.

Cargill introduced plant based product under PlantEver brand in China in 2020, now the products has expanded to chicken, beef, pork and seafood line with presence in food service, retail and online channel, Cargill had also reached strategic collaboration with top food service brands in China. Cargill aims to expand the PlantEver presence in other part of APAC soon.
