The food industry came together on 9 September to witness the signing of a Statement of Recognition between FIA and SMa. The special ceremony, at Singapore's Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, was the highlight of SMa's annual Mid Autumn Festival and was attended by approximately 200 local food companies and Singapore-based manufacturers.
By signing the mutual statement, the Presidents of FIA and SMa formalised their commitment to work together to support the economic growth of the region and promote the role of the food industry in Singapore. Speaking after the event, SMa President, Mr George Huang said, "I am delighted we were able to reach this landmark agreement between our two organisations. I am confident that together, we can achieve great things for our industry".
The ceremony itself was conducted by Dr. Beverley Postma, Executive Director of FIA, and Mr. Sunny Koh, Chairman of the SMa Food & Beverage Committee at an event that featured a live performance by the Chinese Orchestra, free flow of Tiger Beer sponsored by APB, a Tung Lok mooncake tasting, sampling of Eu Yan Sang teas, food stations, and more.

We, the Presidents of FIA and SMa, on behalf of our members from the food industry, acknowledge the valuable role that both organisations play in advancing the development of food policy in Singapore.
We share common values on supporting the economic growth of the region by: promoting best practice in food safety; championing self-regulation; and accelerating the harmonisation of food standards in line with international guidelines. Wherever possible, we will work together to deliver aligned outcomes and seek to complement, not duplicate the work of our respective organisations.
