Organisations and individuals who have made significant contributions to food safety in the region will be honoured at the inaugural World of Food Safety Excellence Awards
ceremony on 20 May 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Nominations will be collected until the closing date of 14 February 2014 and the awards for three categories will be presented at the opening ceremony of the 2014 THAIFEX-World of Food Asia conference in May.
Awards for Exceptional Contribution of an Individual within an F&B Company in the Asia-Pacific Region; Exceptional Contribution of an F&B Company in Thailand; and Exceptional Contribution of an F&B Company in the Asia Pacific Region will be recognised at the ceremony.
FIA Chief Scientific Officer, Kim Leighton, said with the region’s increasing focus on food safety and quality, the awards ceremony provides a platform to further drive discussions and share best practice.
“In addition to recognising the contributions of individuals and companies to food safety management, the ceremony offers the opportunity to promote industry best practice. The awards also provide a good platform to encourage food and beverage enterprises to develop and establish strong food safety and quality management systems.
“This is critical, especially with the additional food safety challenges today’s increasingly global food supply chain presents,” he said.
The awards ceremony will be held in conjunction with 2nd World of Food Safety Conference 2014. Following on the success of last year’s conference, this event will bring together top international food safety experts from manufacturers, retailers to distributors, as well as other stakeholders of the food and beverage industry.
The conference will take place from 21-23 May 2014. Focused on the theme Ensuring Total Food Safety in a Global Economy
, it will seek to discuss the issue of the harmonisation of food safety, quality and support for the upcoming integration of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
