Appointment of Next FIA Governance Board

Food Industry Asia (FIA) welcomes the new 2018 Governance Board after being voted in formally at the FIA Annual General Meeting on April 26, 2018. The Governance Board is responsible for setting the strategic vision of FIA and for overseeing the secretariat.

The new Governance Board is made up of seasoned industry executives from the biggest food multinationals in the world. They will continue to help guide FIA through changing times in the industry and, in particular, for the non-profit to focus on new areas such as environmental stewardship and innovation.

Mr Ehab AbouOaf, Regional President, Asia-Australia, Middle East and Africa, Mars Wrigley Confectionery, has been re-elected as FIA President, while Mr Peter Van Deursen, Chief Executive Officer – Asia Pacific, Cargill, and Mr Iain McLaughlin, President, ASEAN Business Unit, The Coca-Cola Company, will serve a second term as FIA Treasurer and FIA Secretary respectively. Mr Maurizio Brusadelli, Executive Vice President & President Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) for Mondelēz International, has been newly-appointed as FIA Vice President.

Mr Ehab AbouOaf, FIA President
Mr Ehab AbouOaf is currently the Regional President for the Mars Wrigley Confectionery segment in Asia-Australia, Middle East & Africa and is a member of the Mars Wrigley Confectionery Board of Management. He covers geography that is home to more than half of the world’s consumers and is the future growth engine globally. He is managing the full P&L of a business that is > USD$ 3.0B in RSV, more than 3000 associates and a broad footprint of manufacturing facilities. He joined Mars in 2000 and championed the company’s market entry into Egypt and then covered the North African and East Mediterranean region, leading 17 markets. In 2007, Mr AbouOaf was appointed as the GM of Mars China where he transformed the business quadrupling its sales and accelerating its profits 5 times, turning China into a power house for the Mars Global Chocolate business. In 2011, he led the creation of the Asia Pacific region for the Chocolate segment. 

Mr Maurizio Brusadelli, FIA Vice President
Mr Maurizio Brusadelli is Executive Vice President & President Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) for Mondelēz International since January 2016. Based in Singapore, he is responsible for more than 100 markets in the region. He is also a member of Mondelēz International’s global management team. Since relocating to Singapore in 2014, Maurizio has been President of Markets & Sales and President of the Biscuits category in Asia Pacific for Mondelēz International. Maurizio holds a degree in Business and Economics from Bocconi University, Milan and is a Chartered Accountant. Having lived and worked in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, the UK and Singapore, he is fluent in Italian, English and Spanish.

Mr Peter Van Deursen, FIA Treasurer
Mr Peter van Deursen is the Chief Executive Officer for Cargill Asia Pacific. He is also the platform leader for Cargill's Food Ingredients and Systems (FIS) platform, responsible for leading the group's business that serves food makers, food service companies and food retailers. A member of the organisation's Corporate Center, he is part of a core executive group that includes Cargill's leadership team, function and platform leaders. Prior to this position, Mr Van Deursen was the business unit (BU) leader for Cargill's Texturizing Solutions and Cargill Starches and Sweeteners in Europe.

  Mr Iain McLaughlin, FIA Secretary
Mr Iain McLaughlin is President of the ASEAN Business Unit of The Coca-Cola Company. He joined Coca-Cola in 1998 as Strategic Planning Manager, Central Europe. He was then named Executive Assistant to the President of the Central Europe, Eurasia and Middle East Group, before serving as Vice President, Europe, Eurasia, Middle East and Africa for the McDonald's Division. From 2006 until 2008, Iain led the still beverages business in the European Union Group. In 2008, Iain moved to the Eurasia Africa Group where he was Business Unit President, Middle East and Southern Eurasia until 2011. He then led the company’s Global Juice and Stills Brand Center. Since 2014, he has served as the President of the ASEAN Business Unit of The Coca-Cola Company, responsible for all aspects of the company’s business in this diverse and fast-growing region of the world. He is also currently a Board Member of the US-ASEAN Business Council, a Board Member of The American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore.
