FIA has welcomed its 16th member in General Mills, one of the world’s largest food companies.

With a portfolio of well-known brands sold in markets around the globe, such as Häagen-Dazs, Nature Valley, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury and Cheerios, General Mills brings further depth and perspective to our growing organisation, said FIA Executive Director Bev Postma.

“General Mills is one of the most significant and well-respected companies in the industry, and we’re very pleased to welcome them to FIA ,” Postma said. “Our capabilities and perspective as an organisation continue to grow with our membership, and we look forward to the contributions of the General Mills team.”

Headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, General Mills began as a flour mill in 1866 on the banks of the Mississippi River. Since then, the company has expanded its portfolio to include some of the most trusted and loved brands in the world.

In Asia, the company’s businesses range from marketing globally renowned Häagen-Dazs ice cream to offering local favourites, such as the Wanchai Ferry brand of Chinese dumplings and noodles in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The company’s mission is “Nourishing Lives” and the General Mills Foundation has awarded more than $535 million to non-profit organisations since 1954. Through its grants, the Foundation provides funding to hunger and nutrition wellness initiatives, such as the Champions for Healthy Kids program, which supports organisations that promote healthy, active lifestyles among children, and education programmes such as Admission Possible, which helps low-income students prepare for college admission.

“We look forward to working with our industry peers on important efforts that will benefit communities throughout the region,”
