The trends shaping the region’s food and beverage industry will be discussed at the upcoming Fi Asia MEGAtrends 2013 conference, taking place in Bangkok, Thailand from 11-13 September.

Bringing together key industry leaders in business and economics, regulation and policy, and marketing and innovation, the conference will address how macro-economic trends are affecting the regional and global food and beverage industry.

In a study entitled “Global Food and Beverage Retail Industry 2012-2017: Trend, Profit, and Forecast Analysis” , management consulting and market research firm Lucintel highlights that factors such as “burgeoning GDP, increasing consumer spending and changing lifestyle, taste, and preferences are expected to drive the industry” further from 2012-2017.

In addition to examining these macroeconomic trends, the conference will also focus on the growing sensitivity to food safety and sustainability, consumer insights and innovation, and the future direction of the food and beverage industry in Asia.

Over the three days, highlights from the conference will include panel discussions and presentations by industry thought leaders on topics such as:

  • ASEAN harmonisation and its role in strengthening the stability of Asia’s food and beverage industry;
  • The globalisation of regulatory standards and the challenges this presents; 
  • Consumer insights and analytics which are shifting the dial in marketing strategies; 
  • The role of technology in the ensuring a safe and sustainable supply chain from farm to fork;
  • The evolution of the Halal market.

An industry roundtable addressing food security, sustainability, strategies and the future direction of the food and beverage industry in Asia will also take place during the conference.
