Food & Society International Conference 2016

**Note: This is not an FIA organised event. The information that follows has been provided by the organiser:

Date: 18 - 20 November 2016
Venue: Hotel Bangi-Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The International Food and Society 2016 Conference is unique in many ways. Primarily, it is the first of its kind in Asia-Pacific where no food studies network has been formalized yet. What we mean by “food studies” here is that our research is informed by social science. This conference is not driven by food technology, food security, food nutrition, etc… but social science can help to make sense of the technology and food science. Why? Because we study human beings as social beings: so, we investigate the motives (rational or irrational) of the users of the technology, or the consumers of such product or service.

This conference will gather food studies’ researchers from Europe and Asia, as well as representatives from the Food production, Hospitality and Food & Beverage industry. If you choose to attend this unique event, you will harvest many benefits beyond mere networking. You’ll learn the latest trends in food and foodware design, notwithstanding dining concepts. You’ll get to engage into debating upon the determining factors of taste across societies. You’ll be able listen to the latest research in food studies, and maybe discuss about business applications in your own sector of activities. If nothing else, you will enjoy the environment of five-star city resort and meet great personalities that will change the way you think about food.
