The global food and beverage industry is currently facing constant pressure from regulators, policy makers, NGO’s and IGO’s due to rapidly increasing rates of obesity and non-communicable diseases and food safety issues, among others.

Asia, is no exception to this growing trend and in the past two years, we have seen taxes on sugar-sweetened beverages, restrictions on advertising and marketing of food and beverage products, plans to bar food and beverage companies from participating in nutrition programmes and large fines and even prison sentences for food safety incidents.

With the regulatory and policy pressure on industry only set to grow, it has become more imperative that the industry not only speaks with one voice, but also that we seek to broadly align across a range of issues in presenting industry positions to regional governments.
