The 6th Asian Conference on Food and Nutrition Safety will take place in Singapore on 26-28 November 2012. The conference, jointly organised by the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) Southeast Asia and the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), will bring together international and regional experts and scientists across the industry, government and academia to address current and emerging issues in food and nutrition safety in Asia.
Defining “risk” in food safety will be high on the agenda of the conference. Relevant speakers will provide an overview on risk analysis in food safety and discuss the importance of having risk-based food safety management in the production of food and food products.
Promising new technologies to improve food safety will also be featured at the conference. Speakers will not only reveal technological solutions such as those that can eliminate pathogens in low moisture foods, but also discuss the challenges behind these innovations and how consumers are responding to them.
Among some of the speakers that are participating in this three-day conference are Dr. Leon Gorris, Unilever’s Director for Foods Regulatory Affairs in Greater China East Asia, Mr. Anthony Huggett, Nestle’s Global Head for Quality Assurance, Mr. Sanjay Dave, the current Chair of the Codex Alimentarius Commission and Dr. Yoko Kawamura, the Former Director of the Food Additive Division at the National Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS), Japan. Many other prominent experts from international agencies, academia and the industry based in Asia and other regions will also be speaking at the conference.
The speakers will be speaking on the challenges and analysis surrounding food and nutrition safety, as well as provide an overview on chemicals such as Bisphenol A that may be present in food products.
